Stephen Roy 'Steve' Arnold passed away on October 19, 2017 in Napa, California at the age of 73.
Steve was born in Athens, Georgia, and graduated from Napa High School as well as Napa Junior College where he earned both Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees. He was employed at Napa State Hospital for 47 years, serving as a police officer for the last 13 years. He was very instrumental in helping many juvenile offenders, who affectionally referred to him as 'Sweet Daddy Arnold.'
Among his accomplishments, he was legendary as a Napa High School football attendant, rarely missing a home game. He also served as the only citizen representative on the Memorial Stadium Reconstruction Committee. Steve was a self-taught artist, specializing in scrimshaw -- the art form involving scrollwork, engravings, and carvings on bone or ivory. His work resides in private art collections all over the world.
In high school he was known as 'Canary Legs Arnold' and was active in campus organizations including Nu Alpha Sigma. He also attended most Class Reunions and maintained close relationships with friends from Napa High School who were dearly loved.
Steve is survived by his wife Brenda, one brother, one daughter, and one granddaughter.
