William 'Bill' Black

William L. 'Bill' Black passed away on August 14, 2016 in Napa, California at the age of 72.

Born in Bluefield, West Virginia on May 13, 1944, Bill resided in the Napa Valley since 1946. 

At Napa High, Bill was the starting right end on the 1960 Varsity Football Team.

After graduation, Bill attended Napa Valley College and also served in the National Guard.  He worked as a brick layer and owned Silverado Masonry for 25 years. His favorite activities in life included restoring old cars and showing them in car shows, fishing, gardening, and sharing his vegetables with family and friends.  Bill passed away at Queen of the Valley Hospital after complications from cancer.

Bill is survived by two sons, three granddaughters, one sister, two nephews, and one niece.

     So sorry to hear of the loss of Bill.  He was a generous and memorable guy.  His entire Class of '62 remembers him, his kindness and sunny outlook.  May his memory be a blessing to those who loved him.

     I remember Bill as being a really good guy! We played football together in high school and junior college. He was one heck of an athlete!! I was sad to hear of his passing and send condolences to his family and friends.  Sincerely, Daryel Keith
