Kenneth Harold 'Ken' Craigie passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2003 in Napa, California at the age of 58.
Ken was born in Oakland, and moved to Napa at an early age when his parents became owners of Nelson's Fishing Resort at the end of Milton Road on the Napa River. It was there that Ken came to love the river.
After graduation from Napa High, the following year Ken joined the U.S. Navy and served honorably for three years. He returned to Napa and bought a house on Milton Road so he could be close to the river. He then went to work at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo as an electronics mechanic. During his last several years at Mare Island, he served on the 'Pacific Escort,' a research and submarine certification vessel as a sonar mechanic. He retired from Mare Island when the shipyard closed in 1996.
Ken married Donna Loper in 1984 and they had two children, a son Russell and a daughter Amber. Ken loved his family and friends and being on the water -- fishing was when Ken felt the most connected to the world around him. He loved to laugh, cook, tell stories, and have friends share a good day fishing with him.
Ken is survived by his two children, and two brothers along with six nieces and nephews.
