Douglas Albert 'Doug' Guinn passed away suddenly on November 24, 1995 in Napa, California at the age of 51.
Doug was born in Savannah, Georgia on September 9, 1944 and moved to Napa in 1959 (9th Grade). After graduating from Napa High, Doug served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1965 and was deployed to Vietnam. He then attended Napa Community College in 1966, and spent one year working at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Doug and Janet Leigh (Napa High Class of 1965) were married in July 1967, and in November of 1967, Doug joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Following his graduation from the CHP Academy, Doug was assigned to Santa Fe Springs and Oakland, and then to the Napa-Solano Area Office. In 1981, Doug became a member of the CHP Air Operations Program in Napa where he served as Flight Officer and Paramedic until his death. Doug is credited with saving the lives of many Bay Area residents.
Doug is survived by his wife of 28-years, Janet Leigh-Guinn, two sons, Donald Guinn and Scot Guinn, his parents, and two grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass for Doug was celebrated at St. Apollinaris Catholic Church in Napa on November 29, 1995.
