Ron's Gravestone at Tulocay:

Moffitt Motors was owned by former Napa Mayor Charlie Moffitt.  The dealership was orginally located at the northwest corner of Third and Randolph Streets.  It wasn't until the early 1950s, when Moffitt Motors was the first dealership to move out to Soscol Avenue in what would become Napa's Automobile Row.

Cork Kennedy

I first met Ron in the 5th grade at Salvador.  He sat directly behind me and took great joy in driving me crazy by trimming his nails loudly; I was still biting mine at that time.  He would also end any arguments we might get into by taking hold of one my fingers and pushing the tip backward toward the nail that wasn't there.  He never failed to get my undivided attention.  And yet, for that one year, Ron was both one of the most important, and one of the most enjoyable people in my world.  I can't offer you much in the way of specifics, but he was just a good guy, without a malicious bone in his body. Nice and funny - and helpful, too.

And for Ron and me, that was pretty much it. We certainly crossed paths at Redwood, but by that time, we were both into other things and other people.

One year of friendship.  One year at the age of 8 or 9.  Yet, over the years, whenever I reflected on the folks who'd crossed my path, Ron's name kept coming up.  And then, there would be the question: Whatever happened to Ron?  Then you hear, decades later, that he barely made it through the Kennedy Era.  One of those 'shake-your-head' moments.

Ron, old friend, feel free to trim your nails as much you want. I won't say a thing.
