Janice Kerr (Daily)

Janice Louise 'Jan' (Kerr) Daily passed away on October 6, 2016 in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 72.

Janice was born in Chico and spent her childhood and teenage years in Napa.  Following graduation, she attended Chico State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.  She met her husband Galen at Chico State.  They were married in 1966 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 21, 2016.

Jan had a lifelong passion for education, 'teaching' her dolls when she was five years old.  She lived out her passion throughout her career as a school teacher.  For nearly 40 years, she taught in both public and private Christian schools in California, Alaska, and Colorado.

Jan and Galen moved to Grand Junction in 2002, where they pastored Extended Arms Foursquare Church for six years.  She has been an active member of her church family at Canyon View Vineyard Church since 2008, leading bible studies, serving as mentor to younger women, and caring for those in need through her work at the Salvation Army.

She is survived by her husband, two children, eleven grandchildren, and a tremendous community of close friends who will be ever grateful for her influence on their lives.

At Napa High School, Janice served as a Senior Class Representative and was a member and Secretary of the Band.

So sorry to hear of her passing, does anyone else remember her being Miss Napa County?  Janice was always very unassuming, had an inner beauty about her as well.  Wish I hadn't lost contact with her, she had a lot of just plain common sense about her, a good life.  Jackie Hazeltine

RIP Jan...condolences to her family members. In response to whether or not she was Miss Napa County I'm pretty sure that she wasn't Miss Napa County

RIP Janice.  I send sympathy wishes out to all her family and many friends.  I remember her smile and friendliness when we were at Redwood Jr. High and Napa High.  I am so glad her family and friends will have so many wonderful memories to keep them going in the years to come.

Such a great loss for Janice's family and her church family.  She contributed  so much to those in her world, and we thank her for her service in that regard.  Go with God, Janice!  You will be missed.

Sad to hear that our Redwood Jr. High and Napa High classmate has passed.

How lovely to know Jan proved life is sweet, and dear, and should be lived to it's fullest. She gave to her family, friends and community. A great loss for many.

Jan was one of my college roommates and a good friend for many years.  She was Miss Napa County in 1963.  I remember her talent presentation as it exemplifies her delightful personality.  She sat down at the piano with a somewhat serious look on her face and began playing a lovely classical piecy; then after about a minute she looked out at the audience gave a "sly" smile and then began playing a "boogie woogie" type piece. The audience loved it...and her.  That was Jan; she could appear quiet and reserved yet she, also, had a very playful side.  I am sure she is missed by many who were lucky to have her in their lives.
