Laurence Joseph 'Larry' Kreutzer passed away in Ejido Eréndira, Baja California, Mexico on February 14, 2014 at the age of 69.

As related by his sister Bonnie (Kreutzer) Bowers:

After graduation from Napa High School, Larry lived in San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Alaska, and Baja California.  He spent the majority of his time in the small coastal fishing village of Eréndira, which is about 100 kilometers (62 miles) south of Ensenada.  There, he built a house by the sea, making the adobe bricks and doing all the carpentry himself.  Larry was a writer and a carpenter, and loved living in Eréndira, where he had many friends.

Larry leaves behind his daughter Kate and two grandsons.

Larry and I were friends and had a few classes together the first year at Silverado Junior High School....  I'll never forget the day he asked me to write an "excuse" for being absent... he had forgotten it again and was trying to avoid detention...  Of course, I wrote it for him..... to bad I spelt his last name wrong...  the only time in my high school days that I spent some time with the Dean of Boys..... Mr. Humpert.... oh boy, he scared the heck out of me......   Larry felt so bad that he had asked me to do it.... but what the heck one must help a friend.....  right??

Nice story, Jonette. My memories of Larry revolve around tinkering with hot rod cars at his dad's place on the hill out Silverado Trail a mile or so beyond Soda Canyon Road during our junior and senior years at Napa High. Larry had a '33 Ford coupe that ran, and he drove it around the property there, but I don't remember him ever driving it to school. Larry had a nice family, and I enjoyed hanging out there with car-nut friends, like Duane Brookins. I regret we never reconnected after high school days. RIP, Larry.
