In Memory

Sharon Wilson (Castellano)

Sharon Lee (Wilson) Castellano passed away on November 20, 2011 in Vacaville, California at the age of 67.

After graduation from Napa High, Sharon married Mike Castellano in November of 1963.  Together, they raised two daughters and enjoyed life together.  Sharon was instrumental in developing the 4H Club program in Napa and loved working with kids and animals, especially her horses.

She loved cooking and baking, and was always the Camp Cook on family trips to the cabin.  Sharon had a life-long love of swimming after competing on the Napa High Swim Team.  She was an avid sewer of 'blankies' and a rabid Oakland Raiders fan.  Most of all, she loved being with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Those who knew her best will never forget 'clam digging nectar' and 'no laughing in the hills' while hunting.  Sharon is survived by her husband Lawrence Michael Castellano, two daughters and two granddaughters.

Sharon grew up down the block from me on F Street. Her family was very neighborhood-oriented, inviting kids on our block for swimming (they had the only pool in the neighborhood) and to their cabin at Lake Pillsbury. They had two African Ridgeback dogs (also known as lion hounds) that were big & strong. One of them used to "save" me when swimming at the Lake by dragging me back to shore. I think his name was Jeb. Her mom Dody used to cut my hair. Her dad Earl was a Napa City Fireman. They had a male adult living with them who was something like an adopted son. His name was Ray Gilmore, an avid outdoorsman, who worked at Basalt Rock. Sharon was my first one-on-one "date" - we went to the movies together. I think we were about 10 at the time, and the date was arranged by our parents. We had a lot of fun together as kids, but eventually went our separate ways by the time we reached High School.
