Silas 'Rick' Everett IV

                                                                                 Rick in 1982 - 20 Year Reunion

Silas Kendrick 'Rick' Everett IV passed away sometime in December 2019 in Santa Barbara, California at the age of 74.

Rick was born in Alameda and grew up in Napa in the Alta Heights Neighborhood.  As a child, he was stricken with a mild form of polio.  After much physical therapy, he overcame polio and was able to play sports including baseball and tennis.  He also excelled at playing the piano.

After graduating from Napa High, Rick attended Napa Junior College and served as Student Body President.  Soon after, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting.  At that time, he refused to be called 'Rick' or 'Ricky' -- and instead became known as Silas Everett.  He became a member of the Screen Actors Guild and appeared in several movies.  Most notable were Torn Curtain with Paul Newman and Julie Andrews in 1966, and Baby Boom with Diane Keaton in 1987.

His life style eventually transitioned into a business, where he became a distributor specializing in health foods and supplements.

As he related in the Class Reunion Compilation in 1982, his life consisted of a health food business, writing, playing tennis, driving classic cars, acting, teaching tennis, and radio shows.

Rick-Ricky-Silas is survived by his wife Toey, his sister Lynn, and brother Bruce Heckard.

I had the biggest crush on him all through junior and senior high. I am sorry to hear this. Somehow it seems like we should all be immortal.

Only lived in Napa for 18 months.   (My parents lived there longer and I came back to visit).    But Rick is a big part of my memories of Napa H.S.    Last saw Rick at our 20th.   Nice memories revisited.     Hope we meet again when it’s my time.

It is so sad hearing of Rick's death.  Such a great guy.  Never knew he went on to persue an acting career,  He was humble, always smiling, and kind to everyone he met.  My deepest sympathy to his family.  RIP
